Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

Calling all teen artists and writers: The time is NOW! The 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are open for submissions!
You can start your submission process in three easy steps:
  1. Get the info! Learn how to enter and find your Affiliate Partner for your region's guidelines and deadlines.
  2. Create an account! Once your masterpiece is complete, create your Scholastic Awards account and upload your work.
  3. Submit! Sign your submission form and then mail it off with your submission fee or fee waiver to the address on your form, or upload your signed form to your account and enter your payment information online.

Your BEST images

  1. OPEN LIGHTROOM and look through all of the images that you have created so far this year, it may be from our last field trip. 
  2. Make a collection with as many BEST images (quality (light/color/focus), technique (composition), subject (original/interesting)) as you can find from your whole library catalog.  Of these move your BEST BEST to the top and discuss with your elbow partner which 10 you should choose.
  3. EDIT to either 6"x6" (square) or to 12"x 16"(horizontal or vertical)  please have 5 of each
  4. EXPORT it (as a 300dpi high quality . JPG file) to your new documents folder - called 00- Best images to print. NAKE sure to re-name these [Last_first_year_month__subject]
  5. CRITIQUE with your peers which images show the best; 
    1. quality (light/color/focus)
    2. technique (composition)
    3. subject (original/interesting)         and choose the best one of each size
  6. DROP the best 2 into the FOLDER to print

Proj. 5 Walking Field Trip Vista Bridge

Today we will be walking to the Vista Bridge and over near Providence Park and back to school.  We are going to try to use our cameras/phones to capture the following:
  • Shallow Depth of Field
  • Deep Depth of Field
  • Frozen Motion
  • Blurred Motion
You and your partner should also be scouting for what will literally show a picture of what represents the Lincoln community.  Meet at the corner of SW Vista Ave. and SW Kings Ct. to head back to school:
